The owner of the 50 foot (15.25 m) Kekoa was contacted by the boat’s crew after the mast broke, and the owner immediately called the Coast Guard. The Elizabeth City Coast Guard station is responding to the incident off the North Carolina shores.
The CG spokesperson reported the 4 crew were outfitted with PFDs and had boarded a life raft. A helicopter is en route.
